Welcome to the 5th grade Weebly, and
welcome to the 2013-2014 school year at Wolford Elementary!!!
Please check this website frequently, as we will be posting important information here!
During severe weather conditions, Wolford will follow MISD protocols:
Ø During weather watch mode--parents can pick up their children if desired during this weather watch mode.
Ø During safe weather mode--ALL staff will move into safe mode positions and for the safety of all staff members, no staff member will be working at the front desk during this time for parents to pick up their children.
Since we had two snow days, remember we have school on April 18 and May 23rd.
block 1 9:10-10:40
block 2 10:40-12:10
block 3 12:40-2:15
read aloud/pack up 2:15 – 2:25
A word about treats:
Based on the recommendation of the School Health Advisory Council, MISD is no longer allowing parents to send home-made treats to school for class parties. Many children have food allergies. When a home made treat is brought to school, we are unable to determine the ingredients in that treat, therefore we can not determine if it is safe for a child with food allergies to consume. Consequently, any treat sent to school for the entire class must have a food nutrition label.
In addition, the School Health Advisory Council has asked us to discontinue birthday treats. If you wish, please send in non-edible birthday treats such as pencils, silly bands, etc. instead of sweet treats. Thank you for helping us keep all of our children healthy.
Parent-Teacher conference day is coming up! Monday, October 28 is the day to meet with your child's homeroom teacher to go over their first nine week report card. You will only meet with the homeroom teacher, though information will be shared from all of the teachers. Please visit your child's homeroom teacher's page on this Weebly and follow the link to sign up for a conference.
Below are the dates for the upcoming STAAR assessments during the month of April. Since these are important dates for your child, we ask that you please not schedule any appointments during the school dates listed below. Providing the best testing environment for your child is of paramount importance for each student. Our testing days will provide our students with a chance to demonstrate all the knowledge and skills they have accomplished during this past year. We are so proud of our students for always working their hardest and for doing their personal best.
Thanks for all that you do as parents to help support the educational process at Wolford. We love and appreciate our volunteers. Volunteers, however, are asked to please reschedule classroom volunteer times during testing days. No parents will be allowed to visit our building during our testing days or during lunch hours as well. THIS PERTAINS TO ALL GRADE LEVELS. TESTING STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING CELL PHONES ON TESTING DAYS BASED ON PROTOCOL GUIDELINES. Parents, please be aware that teachers WILL NOT have access to their computers during testing days so they will not be able to respond to your questions during the daytime hours of testing.
