The end of the school year is quickly approaching. We would like to keep you informed of the scheduled events for the last few weeks of school.
The fifth grade appreciation celebration will be held on June 2 in our Wolford cafeteria. The celebration will be from 6:30 – 8:00. Each student will be recognized by his or her teacher, so we encourage all students to attend. This is a family evening; therefore no students will be admitted without a parent or significant adult. Your student should remain seated with their class during the entire evening except when they are on stage with his or her teacher.
Thursday, June 4 is the last day of school and is a busy and memorable day for our students. We hope you will be able to attend all of the events that we have planned.
We will start the day with our annual flag raising ceremony. This will start at 8:00 sharp for the entire school. It will be held in the front of the school near the flag pole and should last approximately 15 minutes.
Directly from the flag ceremony, our students will proceed to their specials classes (art, music, PE.). During this time, parents can begin finding a good place to stand for the 5th grade walk. We recommend standing in the front hallway, from the clock to the back doors. At 9:00, students will head back upstairs to their classrooms.
Fifth graders will exit their classrooms at 9:15 for their last “walk” through the Wolford halls. The student body, teachers and parents will cheer for them as they take this memorable walk. We will sing the Wolford song and then our “5th grade song” will play as students proceed through the hallways. Bring your tissues! Our last leg of the walk will take us across the sidewalk in the front of the school, and off campus as we walk to Gabe Nesbitt Park for our party.
From approximately 9:30 to 1:00, the students will enjoy the 5th grade end-of-the-year party at Gabe Nesbitt Park. Our volunteer parents have planned a very exciting party complete with lunch, a disk jockey, games, and more. Students should wear sunscreen and appropriate attire for a day at the park. Lunch will be provided, as will plenty of water. Hats and sunglasses are optional. At 1:00, we will walk back to Wolford. We’ll head back to our classrooms to cool off and watch a movie. Dismissal will be from our classrooms at 3:00. Parents wishing to pick up their children prior to the 3:00 bell will need to come to the classroom to sign out their children.
This is a very special day for our fifth graders and we extend a personal invitation to all of our parents. We would love for you to attend these events.
